About Us

The Western Suffolk Counselors' Association (WSCA) is a not-for-profit, professional organization that was founded in 1953 for individuals engaged in, or interested in, any phase of counseling. Membership includes school counselors in public and private schools, mental health counselors, college admissions counselors, career counselors and professors and students in the field of counseling. We are an affiliate of New York State Counselors' Association.

WSCA serves as a central clearing agency for information pertinent to present or contemplated counseling programs in Suffolk County. WSCA maintains and improves professional standards in the field of counseling as well as encouraging creative and experimental activities in the field. WSCA hosts a variety of programs annually, including General Membership Meetings, Fall and Spring College and Career Fairs for all area high school juniors and seniors.  WSCA also holds a Spring Conference for Long Island counselors with programs specifically geared to Elementary, Middle and High School Counselors, as well as Retired Counselors, College Counselors, Mental Health Counselors and Counseling Students. WSCA also participates in the Long Island Counselors' Annual Conference (LICAC) in the Fall semester. WSCA proudly awards grants and scholarships to graduating high school students who have excelled academically, culturally and socially during their high school years. On an annual basis, WSCA also honors its professional members with a Counselor of the Year Award and its School Administrators with a Counselors/Administrator Award and luncheon. Membership in WSCA provides counseling professionals with an opportunity to increase their professional development and to network with other individuals in the counseling field.
